This Christmas Day 10

12.22.2010

Three more days to go and still not feeling in the Christmas spirit try these.

1.     Cruise your surrounding neighborhood for Christmas lights.  Although growing up we would go to what was considered the rich part of town and look.

2.    Sing Christmas carols or put on Christmas music. As if you haven't heard enough already right. But hey we're trying to get in the Christmas spirit here. LOL

3.     Got snow? Play in it. No snow, think of some other reindeer games to play.

It's all about getting into the Christmas spirit and enjoying time with family and friends. I hope you all are enjoying this Christmas season.

This Christmas Day 9

12.21.2010

With only four days left til Christmas, this post is dedicated to the procrastinators.   Here are four tips and ideas to wrap up your holiday gift list.

1.     Magazine Subscriptions are nice.   You can buy a current issue of the magazine of interest, wrap it up so it looks fancy, and let your loved one know there are 12 more where that came from.

2.     Opt for practical ideas. You can get large quantities of items your recipients are sure to use, such as art supplies for art lovers, prepaid calling cards for friends who travel a lot, or specialized emergency kits. For someone with chronic car problems, give a flashlight, gas can, jumper cables, flares and a membership to AAA.

3.     Buy plastic gift cards.  Everybody from the drugstore to the electronics store to the coffee shop is offering gift cards these days, so you have plenty of opportunities to look thoughtful by tailoring your gift-card purchases to certain individuals. Just be sure to read the fine print before you buy. Some cards have expiration dates and fees, particularly those bearing the logos of major credit card companies. Fees have become less common with gift cards sold by specific retailers, though. If you’re not comfortable just handing over a card, wrap it inside a smaller gift such as a mug or stuffed animal.

4.     Shop on Dec. 24.   Most non-procrastinating types relax on Christmas Eve day – meaning traffic at the malls should be thinner then. Of course, this approach only will work for presents you can give in person, not for gifts that need to be mailed.

This Christmas Day 8

12.20.2010

Five days to go til Christmas. Want to be festive with your holiday outfits but growing a little tired of the more traditional red and green? Why not work the color gold?
Golden
Dress it up or down, just don't over do it.  My suggestion is to work it piece by piece. For example pick a gold piece weather it be makeup, a handbag, shoes or jewelry etc. Pick one piece and work an outfit around it.

This Christmas Day 7

12.19.2010

Six days til Christmas and you still need gifts to give?  Well don't fret DIY to the rescue! I have a great gift that will be great for anyone on your list. And guess what, the best part is you can give them knowing you made them with your own two hands and lots of love! The gift, homemade Christmas cookies.  I do them every year and my family looks forward to them.

What you will need:

Your favorite cookie recipe (you can also do ready made cookie dough)
The ingredients
Tin foil or wax paper
Cookie tins (you can look for these at the dollar store, they have alot of different styles to choose from)

Directions:

Bake cookies accordingly.
Let cool.
Place tin foil or wax paper into cookie tin, you want enough to cover bottom of tin and the cookies to keep them fresh.
Then place cookies in tin.

Top off with a cute gift tag and viola!

This Christmas Day 6

12.18.2010

Seven great gifts to give or receive,  all 20 dollars and under!

1.     DKNY Be Delicious Roller ball Duo - I love this scent, even had to pick one up for myself. You get two scents in one convenient case. Love it! Sephora.com $20.

2.     E.L.F Starter Palette 27 Colors - I don't know a thing about makeup and applying it and all. But I do know that E.L.F is a good brand and couldn't believe it when I saw it at Target for such a great price. I think this would be good for someone just getting started with makeup. Target.com $10.

3.     E.L.F Nail Polish Trio - I was in Target the store the other day and saw this.  And you know what I did, I looked at it and left it there.  How did I do it? I don't know. But I was on a mission that day and nail polish wasn't a part of it.  So now I'm mad at myself cause they are sold out.  Oh, how I love the colors. Target/Target.com $3.

4.     Shea Moisture Hair Products - I have been wanting to try this, but I have to many hair products already that I'm trying to exhaust before I try and buy others.   This is on my wish list.  And with all the rave reviews I'm thinking would be a great gift for a natural kinky curly girl. Target/Target.com $9.99

5.     Mark Lip Squares - I seen these and I thought they were so cute. Again great gift for those who wear makeup. Even just a little. Avon.com $7

6.     Rhinestone Bobby Pins - I picked out these, but if you look there are so many different styles to choose from.  Great finishing touch. F21.com $2.50.

7.     Etched Bangle Bracelets - I love this gift idea, and I could go on forever about how much I love jewelry.  But if you have someone who loves it too, it doesn't have to be expensive just as long as it is well made.  F21.com $4.80

This Christmas Day 5

12.17.2010

Well it's Friday ya'll with only 8 days left til Christmas. I thought it would be fun to count this day with eight symbols of Christmas and there meaning. Have a great weekend everyone!
1.      Candy Canes- Shaped like a Shepherd's staff the color red is for the blood that Christ shed and white is for his purity.

2.     Wreath- Alpha and omega. He is everlasting

3.     Tree-  Life

4.     Star- Marks the spot where Christ lay

5.     Gifts- Gifts are an act of love symbolizing the act of love that God made when sending us Jesus. Gifts are to remind us that Jesus Christ was a gift to us from God.

6.     Angels- Proclaim the birth of the savior.

7.     Holly- The thorn of the holly represents the crown of thorns that Jesus wore. The berries symbolize the drops of blood that were shed from him wearing the crown.

8.     Bells- Bells are used to announce the birth of Jesus. The bells called the people to worship him. The bells were rung to guide lost sheep back to the fold. They signify that all people are precious in the eyes of the Lord.

This Christmas Day 4

12.16.2010

Many people wait til after the holidays to worry about getting rid of weight gain me myself would like to get a head start. So inspired by the 9 ladies dancing of the 12 days of Christmas I've but together this list of things to do to get or maintain a dancers body.

1.     Do 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week.

A half and hour of cardio most days of the week will help keep you at a healthy body weight, which is essential in order to be able to show off any muscles that you will likely develop if you are working out regularly.

2.     Do Pilate's twice a week.

Pilates allows you to become more flexible and will help you to move more fluidly; similar to a dancer. Pilates will help you get a dancer's body by toning your body without adding bulk.

3.     Strength train.

Strength is important to having a lean dancer body. A couple of times a week, hit a weight circuit at the gym, or stay home and do strength training exercises using your own body weight.

4.     Dance!

What better way to get a dancer's body than to dance? When you dance, you use all kinds of different muscles that might otherwise go unused, and you are burning calories. It's also a great way to relieve stress!

5.     Eat Salmon

Salmon is good in omega- 3 fatty acids and potassium. Eat it baked, grilled, steamed or poached but limit yourself to 6 oz a week.

6.     Eat Spinach

This green leafy veggie contains vitamins C and E, calcium, potassium and zinc.  Try it raw or use in salads.

7.     Eat Blueberries

These berries contain vitamin C, potassium and fiber.  Eat them with cereal, or yogurt, or try them in muffin/pancake mixes or make a smoothies. A great perk that comes along with this berry is that it protects cells from cancer causing free  radicals!

8.     Eat Yogurt

Yogurt is good for protein, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B.  Contrary to the popular myth yogurt doesn't need to be kept cold.

9.     Use Olive oil

This oil contains healthy unsaturated fats.  Eat in salad dressing or use for cooking.

LOL.

The reason for the season

12.12.2010

Although this isn't a Christmas song I find it to be so appropriate for this time of year.  I've been using it to keep sight of the real reason for the season, our lord and savior Jesus.  The song is called "Not about us".  I hope you all are having a great weekend! Enjoy.

One by one

11.26.2010

You gotta sit back and count your blessings

You gotta name them one by one

Baby you cant take the credit

For anything that GOD has done

I dont know how I made it over

I dont know how I made it through

You gotta sit back and count your blessings

And say LORD its because of you

-Deitrick Haddon - Count Your Blessings Lyrics
I hope everyone is having a peaceful and blessed holiday.  With this being Thanksgiving, the lyrics to this song came to mind and I thought it only fitting to share.  I am thankful for so much this holiday and everyday, and all I can say is Lord its all because of you!

Getting back on course

11.15.2010

Some days ago a posted the bible verse Habakkuk 2:2, write the vision and make it plain.  Well I'm not exactly writing it. More like writing, cutting and pasting.  I'm not completely done yet, but it's coming along nicely.  This isn't the first vision board that I've made.  I had one when I was younger and it really helped with having direction for my life.  Lately I've been feeling off course so I decided to make another.  This one is much bigger I'm hoping I can find a frame for it and really jazz it up.  Its still very much a work in progress.

I ordered them from a online store called Sleek Jewels.  I think I found her on Youtube. She has some nice pieces in her shop check her out.

I love the size and the color of these earrings so much! Who's Bad!

A twist out done right!

11.09.2010

Finally my hair didn't give me no back talk today or yesterday matter of fact.  I washed it this weekend and it has been on it's best behavior.  Never before has my hair behaved so wonderfully with a twist out.  I'm loving it!

(It even behaved for a pic, lol)

Thats it thats all

11.09.2010

I was out shopping this morning at the mall and stopped into Charlotte Russe, a store I usually just past by.  But today I stopped in and found that all of their clearance was just $5 dollars! I couldn't help but look.  I came across a pair of dress slacks regular price $32 dollar and today I got them for just $5.  I also came across a wide neck short sleeve sweater  for $4.99, my total bill was just $10.92.  Wow!

Slow and steady and shameless self promotion

11.08.2010

So I haven't given up I still have my store By Faith Accessories.  I'm on Ecrater, I would like to move it to it's own site but the sells just aren't there.  I know I have a marketing problem, so I've set an appointment with a business consultant and hopefully they can help me find ways to solve this problem.  I know I have a good product and in front of the right people I can bring in the sells to really get this business off the ground.

I have alot of scripture pieces to choose from and I've also been adding non scripture pieces as well.  I hope to be adding some new pieces just in time for the holidays real soon. So I encourage you to stop by and take a look, and tell a friend. I've added a link to the right.   Stop by and check a sista out! Pleasseeee...

I had to laugh

11.08.2010

Some nights not every night I sleep with an eye mask on. You know I have a thing for  zebra print and it has lavender in it that helps with relaxing and falling off to sleep.  Well last night was one of those night that I wore it to bed.  As often a I wear it you would think that I'd remember that I had it on, not! LOL, I went to check the time in the middle of the night and completely panicked when I couldn't open my eyes.  It was a sight to see, and I couldn't help but laugh at myself.

I'm breathing so I'll prasie Him
